UK Border Force: Britain’s Border Force has to work harder to keep the UK safe
The Border Force will be working harder to ensure that the UK’s borders are secure after a terror attack at a ferry port in Scotland that killed a number of people, the UK government said Tuesday.
The British Transport Police (BTP) said a man drove his car into a police van and then attacked a security officer, killing a security guard and injuring another before he was shot dead by officers.
A man drove a truck into a BTP officer and then drove off, killing one and wounding three, the BTP said.
The attacker, who had a knife and an axe, was shot and killed by officers after he crashed his truck into the patrol van.
British Prime Minister Theresa May described the attack as a “cowardly attack.”
“We must never forget that the attack on the British public by a man armed with an axe and wielding an axe is a cowardly attack on our society,” May said.
May said she and British Prime Minster Boris Johnson agreed “to work together to prevent this cowardly act.”
The British government said it was working with the British Transport Ministry, the British government of Scotland, the United Kingdom Border Agency and other British agencies to assist in the investigation.
